Letter From India

I recieved this email from an Internet friend in India and I wanted to share it so that more people could be praying on behalf of India. His name is Raju and he is married with two children. He is a Christian preacher in southern India where most are Hindu. Southern India is not the kindest in terms of temperatures. In the summer it is often in the 100's and in the winter it is bitterly cold. They hold church in a small space with no air conditioning and probably not much heat either. They sit on the floor on mats for several hours without squirming or getting up. There are many hungry for The Word, but few teaching it. They hold street meetings with PA systems to try to reach as many people as possible and usually have no problems. They even see many Hindu people sitting on the outskirts of the group listening. Whether they are listening to learn or listening for the preacher to say something aganist them is not important. Either way they still hear. You never know what might be said to change someone's heart. So, I hope that after you read this you will send prayers to God to be with the Christians in India and really the Christians everywhere in the world.

I made a few minor adjustments to the wording so that it flowed better, after all Raju's first language is not English.

Dear beloved loving sister Jennifer,

As I am busy with my ministry, I am not able to write you as before. I hope you understand me. I want to share something with you now. By God's grace until now we have no persecution and we were able to preach the gospel very easily with huge PA systems. Now a day's devil has started working against Jesus. Some Hindu religion leaders and some of other strict Hindu religion devotees are planning to stop the street gospel meetings and crusades. They are planning to bring a huge great press to the ruling government so that it can make a bill saying Christians cannot proclaim their Christianity.

There is a reason for this type of opposition. Now days some pastors are preaching against idols publicly with huge PA systems so that all Hindu religious elders could hear what they say. These pastors should have not preached like that. One pastor recently preached that idols are not gods and he mentioned the idol god's name. This pastor ridiculed all Hindu gods and he laughed at them. These crooked Hindu religious leaders heard him preaching and now they are working and planning against preaching the gospel in streets. Yes, we all know that those idols have no life and but according to our Indian constitution no one ridicules other religions gods. Now it became a big problem because of this pastor's mistake and all Christians are going to be ordered not to conduct public meetings.

We do not fear them but we feel bad that we will soon loose the open doors for preaching the gospel. So many times I have preached that idols have no life in them but that our Jesus has life. We know that we are to face many persecutions for God's sake and we are ready for what ever they do to us. I am teaching my people that we should be ready for what ever affliction God wants to take us through. Oh, they are so bold to be able to face any persecution. We all request you to pray more for us so that we could be able to stand for Jesus, even in many persecutions like apostle Paul.

On Saturday night we are going to conduct a gospel street meeting. We were not yet ordered not to conduct street meetings, we were only told that they are planning to come to stop all street meetings. I request you to pray for me so that no one comes to stop the street gospel meeting.

Tomorrow we are all going to fast and pray for the Saturday night gospel meeting. We need your prayer support and we need your encouragement. We want you to pray for crooked heart leaders. We are praying for you and we ask you to please email us and to keep praying for us. Know that we are all waiting for your mail. My wife and children send their love hearty greetings to you.

Thanking you
Your Loving Brother In Christ
Pastor Raju
