May You Have Peace

Don't let their cute faces fool you!

Today when we got home from church we were greeted by our dog, Katie (the one the right) at the front door. The only problem with this is that Katie is not suppose to be in the house when we are not there. Apparently when Frankie let the dogs out this morning he didn't get the back door shut tight and the dogs took a way big advantage of this.

Now it wouldn't be so bad that they were in the house except for the fact that they ate a full bar of chocolate including the wrapper, half a bag of cough drops, the plastic end to my husband's inhaler, and all the food in the cat bowls.

I was so mad at them! But I took heart at the lesson I heard today and decided to let the peace in and the anger out. I want to share the lesson I learned in hopes that maybe one person can be helped to have peace in their lives.

To have peace you must first have peace with God. Without peace with God you can not have peace within your self. Without peace within your self you cannot have peace with others.

This peace that you need from God comes when you trust in him. Sure you have screwed up, we all have. But God, God forgave you and still loves you despite it all. He has the ability to not just forgive, but he also possesses the ability to forget. What an amazing thing! We have to be careful though that we don't let our pride get in the way of this gift God gives us. This gift isn't something that you have to earn. It is a free gift. Some people let pride tell them they can't accept charity. Well charity is another word for love. Accept his love that he is trying to give and let the peace that comes with that be yours.

So, you have this peace from God, the next step is to have peace with yourself. Again we all screw up, in God's eyes a sin is a sin. The Bible says that lying is one of the worst things you can do, but the world would say that it isn't so bad, but you had better not kill or steal. To God they are all the same. If you have asked for forgiveness then have faith that he has forgiven you and that he loves you. He sent his Son to this Earth knowing he would be killed, if that isn't love then I can't even begin to tell you what is. Trust that you are worthy enough for this and knowing and believing this will give you peace within yourself.

Peace with God and peace with yourself what a wonderful road you are walking! Now add to this peace with others. The Bible tells us in many places to have peace with others. (Romans 12:18, Romans 14:19, Ephesians 4:3, Hebrews 12:14, etc.) Peace with others is very precious and worth fighting for. It doesn't mean that you allow others to walk all over you or abuse you. But in most cases if you are kind to others they will be kind back. If you speak without harsh tones to others they in most cases will speak to you the same. Most of the time we are the cause of our lack of peace! So in essence, the golden rule applies. Do unto others how you would have them do unto you. Conflict doesn't have to rule our hearts and lives. Choose how you are going to handle the situation, with anger or with peace and see if you notice a difference.

I hope you have peace today and everyday!
